What we do
GalChimia

GalChimia has 17 years of experience in organic synthetic chemistry applied to the preparation of new organic compounds for the materials and life science sectors.

What We Do

GalChimia was established in 2001 as a provider of services in the field of synthetic organic chemistry. The main activities are custom synthesis (i.e. specific synthesis under request), discovery chemistry (i.e. synthesis of new chemical entities intended as new drugs in long-term projects in the form of FTEs), and process development (i.e. development of a process intended for manufacturing). Since its inception, GalChimia has successfully completed over 1,700 projects with pharmaceutical, biotech and chemical companies around the world, covering a broad range of different chemical structures. Currently the company employs 45 people, most of them qualified chemists with years of experience.

GalChimia has its own facilities, with more than 300 sqm of labs, fully fitted with state-of-the-art material and equipment to carry out complex organic synthesis projects. The reaction equipment includes parallel reactors, microwave parallel reactors, flow chemistry, high pressure reactors, and kilo lab amongst others. The analytical and synthetic equipment supporting synthetic work includes LC-MS, GC-MS, UPLC, HPLC, preparative HPLC, medium pressure chromatography systems for example.

GalChimia's expertise in synthetic organic chemistry makes it a highly qualified partner for companies operating in life science and materials fields. GalChimia is currently a partner of the Nanofacturing, a Horizon 2020 project, intending to develop a new manufacturing platform process for solid core nano-pharmaceutical products, capable of being scaled up to supply Phase III trials and beyond. GalChimia is leader of the Work Package that covers the design, synthesis and scale up of ligands in this project. It is also a partner in several national projects funded by CDTI and has participated in the HotDrops Marie Curie project.

GalChimia's key contributions to the ShikiFactory100 project include: the synthesis of new structures using organic synthesis techniques. They are leaders of Work Package 3: Design and Chemical Synthesis of New Products.

The Principal Investigator for GalChimia in the ShikiFactory100 project is Dr Jacobo Cruces.
